In February 2023, during an assignment in Arctic Norway, I had the opportunity to meet a fisherman from the Lofoten Islands: Geir Halvard Nilssen.

 

In winter, the cold waters of Norway are teeming with cod, and the fishing season for this fish runs from January to April. After a few exchanges on Instagram, Geir invited me aboard his small boat to join him for a day of work.

 

The following photos were taken during a day marked by rather unpredictable weather, deep in the heart of winter 2023, in the waters of the Lofoten Islands, within the Arctic Circle.
